Friday
Kip was up at around 5:45 a.m. and we left Boca Raton around 7:30 a.m.
The closer we go south, the bigger the houses and boats get. It is hard to believe that people have so much money!
There are a few bridges that only have clearance of about 9', so we had to wait for a few of them to open to allow us to go through.
These workers were washing a yacht on a 4-level floatable scaffold!
Check out these large yachts!
There are many water taxis and tour boats cruising around.
We saw Disney, Carnival, and Royal Carribean cruise ships at port.
This is a cargo ship coming in from the ocean.
So, we found a new drink that we didn't see in Minnesota. It is Lipton Georgia-Style iced tea! It is amazing! We started drinking the regular tea, but then realized it was 49% sugar. I switched to the diet tea, which is just as good but only a few calories.
We rode by several cargo ships loading their crates.
The town of Hollywood is where Doug lived, so we wanted to give him a shout out!!
Here is another new thing we saw - a boat going by with a digital billboard.
The condos here are outrageous! I can't imagine living in any of them. They are sooooo high and skinny.
We arrived at an anchorage at Baker's Haul Over Basin by the Florida College. There are several derelict boats here, but many others, like us, that are just trying to stay out of the channel. It is pretty nice here now that the loud, music-playing boats are gone.
We had pork chops, corn, and fruit for supper and played 2-person Spades. It is a calm night, so Kip won't have to worry about getting up all night to see if we are still anchored where he wants us to be.
