March 17 - Sunset Bay, Stuart, Florida

For those of you who celebrate, Happy St. Patty's Day.

Well, another not so great night of sleep for me, but the injuries are getting better.  Kip was up early.  We had coffee and decided to go fishing at the new pier we found on Hutchinson Island called Clifton Perry Beach Pier.  We packed our books, sandwiches, and other items in our backpacks, grabbed our fishing poles, stopped for a donut, stopped and got bait (live shrimp) and were on our way.  Lots of stops - it's the "Kip" way!

We fished for about an hour and I caught a worm looking thing with hairs all over it that was about 3 inches long (I looked for a picture or name of what it is but didn't find anything), and Kip caught weeds the entire time.

Kind of frustrated, we then drove to the Stuart Causeway and tried fishing there.  We had bites that ended up taking our bait, but no fish.  The only reason we feel ok about not catching fish is that the people around us weren't catching any either.  Not sure if that is an excuse or a justification!  😁

We again packed up and drove to Stuart Beach, but there were no parking spaces.  So we went Fletcher Beach which is near the Clifton Perry Beach Pier.  Kip planted his chair in the sand to read, and I went on a walk to look for shells.  It was extremely windy.  There were several people in the water swimming and windsurfing, many people just relaxing, and a few people fishing.  I was walking back to where Kip was sitting, carrying a few shells that I had picked up, and a wave came in.  The wave pushed a big shell up along the shore.  I ran to grab it before the next wave came in and took it back out to sea.  It is an olive shell, and it is about 3-4" long.  A beauty.

We returned to the boat later in the afternoon and had to drive around the Stuart public parking area for a while in order to get a spot.  Back on the boat we relaxed and had tuna sandwiches, chips and fruit for dinner.  I am so proud of us for not going into town for ice cream for the last few days!

It seems that every sunset picture we take has our neighbor in it (in the sailboat).  Nothing against sailboats, but it would be nice to turn in a NEW direction to get a sunset without the sailboat!  ha ha
