Paris Landing Marina, Paris, Tennessee to Birdsong Marina, Camden, Tennessee

We left Paris Landing Marina at 7:30 a.m. under a cloudy sky and cool weather.  The waves are not too big and are gently moving us around (not slamming us around).

Along the way we saw

A vehicle Ferry taking cars over to the other side of the river.

An old, abandoned, railroad bridge that is only partially still there.

This structure used to be a grain elevator.  When the river was flooded by a dam, the building was left in place.  This is a five-story building, but only the top two floors are visible.

This guy flew by us (as you can see by the rooster tail he was making).

Fall colors are arriving.

This picture shows a dredging diver boarding the tow.  Divers take a suction tube under water and dredge (which we never knew they did).

Birds on a tree and on sand just handing out.

Another old railroad bridge.

Our home for the night is Birdsong marina.  It is nothing fancy, but it is fine.  There is a sunken boat on the other side of the dock (which is kind of creepy)!  The Tennessee River Freshwater Pearl Museum is also here.  The Tennessee River's Kentucky Lake in Camden, Tennessee, is the only freshwater pearl-culturing farm operation in North America.  We visited the Museum, and the pearls and jewelry were very pretty.

They use Washboard mussel to produce the pearls.  The implant an object in them (any shape) and the mussel thinks it is an enemy and covers it to produce the pearl.

Sunken boat next to the dock.

Duck hunting blind created using a pontoon.  These blinds are all over the river.

The marina has a courtesy car, so we took it to the store to get groceries.  The car is an older Lincoln Continental.  We are driving on very skinny country roads, and the car is floating all over the place.  We almost went off of the road a couple of times.  I guess it didn't help that the people behind us were tailgating and making us even more nervous.

We started using an app called Nebo.  This will show our daily trip and include stats that some of you might enjoy.
