March 9, 2025 - Vero Beach City Marina, Vero Beach, Florida

Today is calm, bright, warm.  We listened to the Vero Beach Cruisers radio chat which starts at 8:15 a.m. every morning.  The chat discusses the weather and when a window opens to go safely to the Bahamas, marina rules, information about any events going on, marina rules, etc.  

We both showered and got ready because Doug and Gwen are picking us up at noon for lunch.  We are going to Sebastian to a restaurant called Squid Lips.  They have any type of food, but, of course, we got fish and Kip got shrimp.  The weather was perfect.  

After lunch Doug drove us around a bit to show us some of the neighborhoods and dropped us off at the marina.  Big thanks to Doug and Gwen for picking us up while we are here and spending time with us.  We enjoy it very much and really appreciate it.  We said our goodbyes, hugs and kisses, and they drove off.  It is always hard to see them go.  

Once we got back to the boat and sat on our chairs on the dock.  Kip wanted to go on a dinghy ride.  We got in the shallow water but quickly got back where we belonged.  We said hi to people, looked at the boats, etc.

There are several George Washington's at this marina going back and forth to the dinghy dock and mooring balls.

After we got back and went back to our chairs, three jet skis drove up.  They asked us if they could get some gas.  We told them that the marina was closed.  They guy's eyeballs almost came out of his head. 😵 I guess they were almost empty.  We didn't have much gas for them (the dinghy gas tank was close to empty), so we told them we didn't have any.  The guy on the boat on the other side of the dock offered them gas from his 10-gallon gas can.  They were thrilled that they wouldn't be stranded.

I walked up to the bathroom and on my way out a woman, man, and two huge dogs were there.  The woman asked me if there was anyone showering in the bathroom, and I told her "Yes".  She then said, "Oh darn, my husband and I wanted to shower together but now we can't."  Then they walked to the other woman's restroom to see if the showers were open and to check if anyone else was in there.  Huh?  😲

We heated up leftovers and had apples and bread with it for supper.  Kip went up and got our ice cream when I was sleeping - way to go Kip.  We watched "Blue Bloods" and hit the sack.
