February 16, 2025 - Bohia Honda, Florida Keys

The wind is still there, but it is not as bad as yesterday.   Kip was up early (as usual) and took sunrise pictures.

We are leaving Bohia Honda tomorrow, so we are going to the grocery store today at Big Pine to stock up.  We caught the bus around noon and got groceries at Big Pine Island.  After groceries, we realized we needed ones to get back on the bus.  I went into the Walgreens store and grabbed a granola bar so I could get change for a $5.  The cashier was absolutely out of control!  There were about 5 people in line, and he said "I am so g** damn sick of this place.  I'm fu**ing over it."  I tried to be extra nice to him, but he just slammed the cash register drawer, and I left as fast as I could.

We walked the bikes with our groceries back to the marina and unloaded everything.  We then put the bikes and the dinghy back on the back deck of the boat (so everything is ready when we leave tomorrow).

We got hot and sweaty packing the boat, so we put on our suits and went to the beach for a swim.  The water was exceptionally blueish green today.  It felt great.

After drying off we put our chairs by the channel and read.  There was quite a bit going on - a manatee drinking dribbling water from a boater's water hose, fish, dogs, and a huge iguana that was getting a bit too close for comfort!  Kip thought it was chasing him.

We played a game of Rummikub and then went to the beach for our final Bohia Honda sunset.  It was quite beautiful.

  1. Our visitors need to know not to give fresh water to Manatees: 1) it’s bad for their system, 2) it ‘s against Fla law.
