Friday
We are walking to the lighthouse today. We tied up the dinghy at the dingy dock and started to walk. An elderly man in a golf cart asked where we were going. We told him and he said, "Get in, I'll take you there." He said he a pharmacist and CVS bought him out in 94. He said he hasn't worked since, and he was getting ready for his 11:00 cigar. He drove us to the bathrooms at the beach and we parted ways. I don't think this was the first time he gave people rides!
We got to the gate of the lighthouse, and it is closed!
We followed a trail that took us along the ocean, and we ran into a dead end there.
We saw a group of parasailers, which was fun.
We walked the beach for a while, noticing that there were a ton of man o' wars in the sea grass.
Kip was brave and walked barefoot, but I kept my sandals on and walked on the sandy beach.
We needed to pick up a few items, so we walked to Winn Dixie. We got a 12-pack of Diet Coke and some other groceries. We put everything in our backpacks. We then walked a block to CVS to get some medicine. We kept seeing and hearing about the free shuttles, so we downloaded the app and took a shuttle (golf cart) back to the park.
We napped, read, and watched a few dolphins go by. It is Friday night, so there are several boats in this cove: They are big, flashy, and LOUD. We also have a handful of very annoying barking dogs. We are hoping things calm down by the time we go to bed. We took the dinghy out to view the sunset, but it was kind of just ok.
We ate dinner, made a few calls, and settled in for the night. The no-see-ums are bad at dusk, but at night they don't bother us. We had our windows open all night, and the breeze was wonderful. We hope we can do that again tonight.
