February 20-21, 2024 - Bohia Honda State Park, Florida Keys

Tuesday

This morning, we worked on a few things that needed our attention, and then we went to the beach.  After we packed up our stuff, we rode bikes to a campground on the other side of the main street.  The camp sites are really nice, right by the beach.  We also noticed that the beach (called Sandspur Beach) was WAY nicer than where we were currently hanging out on.  Tomorrow, we will try that one.

Wednesday

We hung around this morning at ate a hearty breakfast.  Then we packed up all of our stuff (chairs, back packs, umbrellas, insulated bag with our drinks and sandwiches) and rode our bikes to Sandspur Beach.  The temperature is around 70 degrees, and there is a bit of a wind, but we're ok with that.

We found our spot and settled in for the day.  We did wade into the water, and it seemed cold.  Kip did his beach walking and I read.  While I was in the restroom Kip said two little sharks swam by close to the beach.  There aren't many colorful shells - they are mostly white or brown and are usually broken (which is ok, because I have a lot of them at home).

Top picture is where we were yesterday - bottom video is where we were today1

We left the beach after 3:30 and stopped at the marina office to get ice cream.  The sea grass really came in yesterday (as you can see in the picture below).

We walked to the beach to take sunset pictures.

Kip jumped up and really focused on the bird going by.  When he reviewed the picture, he said "That is a terrible picture."  Can you see the bird?

So I told him I was going to take a better picture than he did, and I took a picture of a tree stump stating, "I think my picture will win over your bird picture."

Then he had to take a better stump picture than I took.  We just laughed!

It got cold, so we are having supper in the boat.  Tomorrow is supposed to be less windy than today which is great because we are going snorkeling in the afternoon.  Cross your fingers!
