February 11, 2024 - Elliot Key, Florida Keys to Key Largo, Florida Keys

We left Elliot Bay a little after 8 a.m.  We went under a few bridges but really didn't see many boats along the way.  

We are in wide open spaces right now!  Eventually we went through a few small channels with mangroves around us.

We noticed a sailboat race with small sailboats occurring to our right.  One of the overseers contacted us and asked us to turn left a way because the boats were about to turn right toward us.  We anchored in Sunset Bay Cove in Key Largo.  

While we were talking to my dad via Facetime a party boat went by.  We waved and said "Hey, say hi to Joe" so dad could see what was happening.  They yelled "Hi Joe."  

There are several restaurants here and they are playing older, island-type music, which was really nice - songs like "Under the Boardwalk", etc.  The music stopped for the Super Bowl game.  A dinghy with four people from another Looper boat stopped by and chatted with us for a while.

Kip is grilling!

No bugs here, so Kip grilled chicken tenders and we had peas and fruit.  

We played a few rounds of dominoes and tucked in early to the sounds of really bad karaoke singers from one of the bars!  Gotta love ear plugs!
