February 13 and 14 - Rose Marina, Marco Island to Naples and then back to Keewaydin Island

 February 13

Another day at Rose Marina due to wind.  I set out to town to get a haircut and do some shopping, and Kip worked on a few things on the boat.  I've been passing this tree for days and finally took a picture of it - I thought it was so pretty!

We attempted to take the dinghy to one of the beaches on the Gulf, but the waves were way too big.  So, we backtracked and stopped at a beach on the way back to the Marina.  It turned out to be pretty nice.

Back to the Marina and had supper and walked to the ice cream shop for a cone.  A round of dominoes (Kip is kicking my butt) and bed.

Happy Valentine's Day!

We got up early and pulled anchor to head to Everglade City.  The waves were predicted to be 1-1/2 to 2 feet so we can probably make it.  We took off and got out into the Gulf, and the waves were much higher than predicted.  We ended up turning around, heading back to the intracoastal.

Kip is heading to Naples, but I wasn't keen on that idea.  We got there and were trying to find a place to anchor, but all around us were huge boats, tight spaces, and people making huge waves knocking us around.  Our camera actually fell off of the counter and a part of it broke off.  I was irate!

When stressed I check out, so I crawled into the v-bunk and went to sleep.  When I woke up, we were back at Keewaydin Island (which I was happy about).  It is very relaxing here, the beach is close, and it is in a no wake zone.  Great job Kip.

We were sitting on the beach and a young guy in a boat going by said "Look at that tug, that is bada$$".  I thought that was funny since most people call it "cute".

Kip bought a fishing license and fished for a while today.

Kip made steak and green beans for supper, and we tucked into the boat to avoid bugs.  We are going to check the weather again, but it might not work for us to go to Everglade City due to the unpredictable wind.  We don't want to get stuck somewhere.

Sunset pictures courtesy of Kip riding around on the dinghy with the camera!
