Happy Veterans Day!
The UPS Red package Kip ordered for the solar panel has been delayed due to the storm. We will have to stay here another day and wait for it to arrive. We got up, drank coffee, and rode our bikes about 4 miles into the old part of Fairhope. We parked them in the bike rack in front of the police department (who would take them from that location, right?). It is a really nice little town, lots of flowers and it is well maintained. We did a bit of shopping (I bought seven books for $7.00 at the used bookstore and Kip got distilled water for the batteries). This is the time when I wished Laura was still with me because Kip won't go into any of the "girlie" shops with me!!
We then picked up our bikes and went down (a big hill) to the pier and the beach. We walked the Pier and viewed the rose garden and fountain.
We took the park road to find an easier way back to town than the hill we went down on the way to the Pier. We came to the end of the park road and saw this sign: "Do Not Feed the Alligators." WHAT!! We found a trail we could use, but that sign said, "Beware of Alligators and Snakes". We backtracked to a long wooden stairway that took us up to the top of the hill and carried our bikes up the stairway.
We biked back to the marina to find the package arrived. Kip worked on the solar panel while I put in a load of laundry. The dryer isn't working, so I had to hang the wet clothes on a boat line across the front of the boat to dry.
Kip saw a shrimp boat come in, so we walked over to see what was happening. Another Looper was buying a pound of shrimp (the captain stating, "They've only been dead for a half hour." 😬 Kip also purchased a pound of shrimp for $2.50 and "de-veined" them on the boat (I was nowhere around to witness that). Kip grilled our supper (hamburgers, beans, shrimp, salad).
We took our chairs and watched the sunset (along with all of the other people that come to this marina each night to see it as well).
The weather is not being accommodating because tomorrow there is a small boat warning starting at 3:00 p.m. due to the wind and waves. We are getting up early to try and beat the warning. If things don't look good, we will stay here another day just to be safe.
$2.50/Ib 😱 It’s $11/Ib in MN. I bet that fresh it was delicious!
