Muscatine, Iowa to Burlington, Iowa
We left Muscatine around 7:30 a.m. and a slight fog was in the air.
We went through Lock 16, and the fog became thicker. We stumbled across (saw it on GPS and radar) Lock 17..... it was nice to actually see it!!.
Foggy Lock
Because of the fog, we decided to stop at around 9:30 a.m. and wait for it to clear up. We walked into town and got coffee (of course), and by the time we got back all was clear.
Here is a shot of an industrial section of the Mississippi.
It is interesting to see houses and mobile homes on cement stilts along the river. Some even had a house and a mobile home on the stilts together. The sun was shining and the water was glistening, so I had to take a video of it for you.
After we got through Lock 18, we called a marina to see if they had a slip. The guy said that they can't provide a slip because the water is only 1.5 feet (too shallow for boats). If you are interested in the Mississippi River lack of water, here is a link. We ended up docking at the public dock next to the boat launch. We won't have electricity or heat, but we will be ok.
We walked into town to get a few items, recalling when we brought the Chris Craft home and stopped in this city. It looks like they are trying to revitalize the city, which is great. A new 27' Ranger Tug with an outboard motor stopped and waved at us.
We traveled 58 miles and went through three Locks today. It is a beautiful night. Hope we can stay warm!
