Grafton, Illinois to Alton, Illinois

We have a short trip today (only 17 miles), so we had breakfast and didn't leave until 9:00 a.m.  We were planning on going to Hoppie's, but they are booked until Saturday.  It is a bright day today with a few clouds and lots of wind.  We are on the part of the river that we have not been on before.

The trees on the bluffs are turning colors, and the rock walls have many interesting shapes to them.

One of the marina's has a statute of The Lady of the River.  This is a historical landmark that is only a few miles from where the Missouri, Mississippi, and Illinois rivers intersect.  It is a dedication to the area's rich history and beauty.

Tows lined up by the bluffs.

The Alton Marina is right by the east side (left) of the bridge in this picture.

Our boat in our covered slip.  There are several "Loopers" here.  We walked into town and got groceries.  The town is very nice and has beautiful buildings and lots of fun shops.  We plan on going back into town tomorrow.  Kip grilled steak from the meat market for supper, which was very good!  There is a boat casino on the boardwalk, so we walked over and dropped a few coins.

The bridge by the marina.

This dock was decorated and ready for a party!

Here is a map of where we started, where we stopped (stars) and where we are now.
