The trip was quite calm. Going through the mangroves channels was like glass. The reflection from the trees and birds in the water was really interesting.
We arrived at Boca Chita Key Harbor and found a great spot to spend the night. We walked around and checked out the beach and found a few shells, then we set up our chairs and read for a while. We like it here, but the bathrooms smell like major sulfur! You can hardly breathe in there! Nasty.
We talked to a number of people staying here for the night, which is always fun. One couple said they just bought a 21' Ranger Tug and took our picture to put on the Tug Nutz website. There is a really unique lighthouse here, but it is being restored so we could not go into it. Bummer.
The weather was sunny and warm, so we decided to go snorkeling. The small beach was full of people who came in from the tour boat, but the water was warm. We snorkeled for a short time - the bottom of the beach was uneven with some sand and some weeds with deep dips, so it was hard to move around. Plus, the tide was pulling people out, which made us nervous. On the way back, I was invited onto a catamaran boat to see the lobsters the three people caught for dinner.
There are several rules here, but people must have not read the rule about loud music. We listened to the Bee Gees, rap, and several other genres - all super loud. I hope they go to bed early.
Back at the boat we had porkchops, salad, and apples for dinner. Kip heard that some small rocket was being launched out of Kennedy, and it was supposedly going right by this Key. We waited outside and heard the rocket, but didn't see it due to the clouds. The clouds, however, did create a pretty sunset.
We cruised about 5 hours today. Much shorter day than yesterday. Tomorrow, we are heading out again. We are glad we stopped here!
