February 13, 2024 - Marathon, Florida Keys

 Tuesday

We are tucked in a nice channel, so we are staying put today due to the wind.  Kip was up at 6:00 a.m., made coffee, and watched the world go by.  He even saw a manatee swim by.

Kip made us a hot breakfast.  In this picture you will see Kip grabbing the last pancake from the electric pan / griddle without leaving his seat!  😀

It is a gloomy, windy, rainy day.  Our big decision of the day is - should we shower before we go and get groceries or after we get groceries?  We decided to get groceries first.  We took the dinghy into the dinghy dock and walked 1.7 miles to Publix.

On the way we stopped at a couple of beach stores and purchased a beach umbrella holder.

We purchased only enough groceries to fit into Kip's backpack and into the new insulated bag, plus a few lighter bags I would carry.  We have never seen so many people in a grocery store!  I was trying to buy stamps, and it took forever.

We walked the 1.7 miles, got our dinghy from the dock, and went back to the boat.  We then settled in for a few hours.  Kip decided to go back to shore to get propane tanks.  I had a prescription that I needed as well, so he went to Walgreens for me.  While Kip was gone, I read and watched the boats go by.

Kip came back, and he was wondering if we were in the mud because of low tide.  We were fine, but the sailboat near us wasn't.

It is getting colder and windier, but we tried to stay outside.  Kip put on a sweatshirt, waited, then put on long pants, and we ended up going inside.

It wasn't a nice, sunny day today, but hopefully tomorrow will be better.  We have everything we need, so we should have to worry about food.

No Nebo today, but you can see our boat in the picture below.  All of the other dots around us are boats too.  There are hundreds of them around here anchored or moored.
