April 13, 2023, Thursday - Stuart, Florida

We determined that all of the wind and rain must have created a huge batch of shells, so we went to Stuart Beach to look.  There were hardly any shells anywhere.  Our theory was incorrect.

Mary (daughter) and Nick (her fiancée) are flying in today.  We are meeting them and Doug and Gwen at a restaurant located near Jensen Beach at 5:30, so we just hung around the boat until it was time to go.

As we neared the restaurant, the rain began again.  We got into the restaurant while it was sprinkling.  We listened to a gal singing and had cokes until everyone arrived.  They arrived but came in during a major downpour.  The sprinkle turned into a flood!  Nick said it is in the high 80s and sunny in Minnesota.  😏

We had a wonderful dinner (even with the rain).  We noticed that there was a flat piece of something on Doug's plate that he didn't eat.  We asked him about it, and he said he didn't like it.  We each took a taste, and we didn't like it either.  It was flat, toasted, and tasteless (we found out it was something made with plantains).  Doug called them "kahoonies" and we had a good laugh about it.  Doug, add a comment and remind us what this was called!

During dinner, after the rain slowed down, a rainbow appeared.

After dinner we took the leftover bread and the "kahoonies" out to the dock to feed the catfish.  There were hundreds of them all piling on top of each other to get to the food we dropped into the water.

When we got back to the dinghy, it had quite a bit of water in it, so Kip had to use a hand pump to get the water out of it before we could get in.  We are glad it isn't pouring anymore, because the ride out to the boat would have been very wet (we have two raincoats and two rain ponchos and forgot to bring any of them with us)!
