February 7 - Little Marco Island to Goodland to Marco Island Factory Bay

We left the boat around 7:15 a.m. to go to the beach and shell at low tide.  It was amazing how much of the beach was exposed with the water that low.  There were so many conch shells there that every person in the city could have picked one up.  When we were going back to the boat an entire boat full of shell seeker boat tourists arrived.  They will be happy!

We weighed anchor noon and went to Goodland.  The water level is very unpredictable.  We anchored and talked to a couple of marinas and there was no place to tie the dinghy and no shopping in the area.

There was a huge catamaran anchored near us.  We have never seen anything so big - ever.

We went into Ten Thousand Islands with the dingy we didnt go to far and it kinda looks all the same.  We worried that if we took the Ranger in, we would get into to shallow of water in low tides.  So....  we decided to go back to Marco Island and anchor out.

We set anchor in Factory Bay, relaxing, watching the sunset and eating dinner.  Kip took sunset pictures.

  1. Glad you are having such a good time. Thousand Islands really need local knowledge. If it’s a clear shot, try to go to Everglades City— stone crabs!!
