Columbus Marina, Columbus, Mississippi to Sumpter Bay, (North of Gainesville, Alabama)

We got up with the other Loopers and were at the John C. Stennis Lock (30') at 7:15 a.m.

Four hours later we had to wait 45 minutes, but then all seven of us got through the Tom Bevill Lock (27').

We are still on the Tenn-Tomm.  Here are some pictures of things we found interesting.

A phone booth along shore (?).

We aren't exactly sure what this is...

One side of the river is rock wall - the other side is just trees.

Some of the trees here are turning colors.

Many stairs and docks are wrecked or not in the water anymore due to the banks caving in or low water.

This is a long pole that has a swing on it that goes over the water.  I would love to try that out!

These pink floating things are used by fisherman.  Each one has 10 hooks that are baited, and then the fishermen check them throughout the day.

Here we are pulling into a channel called Sumpter Bay in Alabama.  Another boat started to come in but decided to go to the next Lock which is about 4-miles away.  There are many mosquitos and lots of crickets making noise, but it is a nice spot.  There is a camper on shore (in a nearby park) and they are cooking and listening to Johnny Cash music.

Here are our daily stats...  no step count because we didn't walk much.
