Columbus Marina, Columbus, Mississippi

We had the pleasure of sleeping in today (or I should say "I" did, Kip was up at 6:00 a.m.).  Kip took some great sunrise pictures.

We took the opportunity to get fuel and pump out (we didn't wait in line with the others when we came in yesterday).  There are about seven boats that are planning on leaving tomorrow morning at 7:00 a.m. for the next lock, which is right next to us.  We met quite a few new people today, which is fun (one couple was from Stillwater, Minnesota).  We said we would be ready to go in the morning.

We then called an Uber and got a lift into Columbus.  We were going to walk, but the marina said it was too far and the roads are very narrow with no shoulders on them.  We walked around town for quite a while, did some shopping, looked at the old houses, bought donuts and coffee, and got a few items for the boat (clips, oil, etc.).  We started walking back toward the marina to find the barbeque place that everyone is raving about.  We walked, and walked, and walked (Kip got three sand burs along the way) and finally stopped at a gas station to ask them where the heck this place was.  The guy in the gas station said it was 5 miles away.  Not willing to walk 5 miles, we called an Uber and went back to the marina.

While we were in town friends of ours (Jeff and Laura) called and said they are driving their rv to Florida and wanted to know if they could meet up with us.  We changed our plans at the marina to stay an extra night (because there is nothing down the river where we could meet for quite a ways).  We are very excited to have their company!

So, I did some laundry and Kip checked things on the boat.  We sat outside in the 80-degree sunshine and had steak for dinner.  Kip walked around and took pictures of the "skinny legged SOB birds" and any other interesting things he could find.

Can you find the bird in this picture?

Sunset

We didn't travel anywhere on the boat today, but we walked over 14,000 steps!
